The Milton residence is a new build, single-family home perched on a steep lot with a thirty-foot drop from front to back. The house spans this elevation change across three of its four levels, connecting a lower-level garage and entrance to the main entry on the third floor. Located within a city-designated historic district, the project uses brick and traditional proportions on the north and south façades to complement its context. In contrast, the east and west façades incorporate extensive glazing to frame views of the city. Custom extruded aluminum louvers control solar heat gain and glare. The home achieved LEED Platinum certification, with near–Passive House levels of air tightness and insulation.
